The pace of industrial growth in the Pilbara region is again seen in the rapid development of Gap Ridge Industrial Estate in Karratha. Following the completion of Stage 1 civil works, the State Government has given the green light for the commencement of civil works for Stages 2, 3 and 4, providing 41 lots in a range of sizes from 2,000sqm to six hectares. The civil works include new roads and streetscapes, provision of water, sewer, power, communications and stormwater drainage.

Regional Development and Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said the pace of development and growth in the Pilbara increased the strategic importance of Gap Ridge’s 260ha light and general industrial site. 120ha of the estate has so far been released and already 32 companies are set to call Gap Ridge home, and all are looking to create more opportunities and more jobs in the Pilbara.

“The estate, being developed by LandCorp through the Government’s Pilbara Cities initiative, has become another Pilbara success story with only a few lots remaining in the first stage,” Mr. Grylls said.

More than $129billion of projects are under development or planned in the region, including Chevron’s Gorgon and Wheatstone LNG projects and Woodside’s Pluto LNG Operations.
